Diversity may refer to:
* Multiculturalism, the ideology of including people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
* Diversity (politics), the political and social policy of encouraging tolerance for people of different backgrounds
* Diversity (business), the business tactic which encourages diversity to better serve a heterogeneous customer base
* Diversity training, the process of educating employees, students or volunteers to function in a diverse environment

A disability is a permanent injury, illness, or physical or mental condition that tends to restrict the way that someone can live their life.
Disability may involve physical impairment, sensory impairment, cognitive or intellectual impairment, mental disorder (also known as psychiatric or psychosocial disability), or various types of chronic disease
4. What is "harassment in the workplace" and why is it unacceptable?
Harassment refers to a wide spectrum of offensive behaviour. The term commonly refers to behaviour intended to disturb or upset, and, when the term is used in a legal sense, it refers to behaviours which are found threatening or disturbing. Sexual harassment refers to persistent and unwanted sexual advances, typically in the workplace, where the consequences of refusing are potentially very disadvantageous to the victim.
5. What is meant by the term "Culture"? Provide 5 examples of culture.
Culture generally refers to patterns of human activity and the symbolic structures that give such activities significance and importance. Cultures can be "understood as systems of symbols and meanings that even their creators contest, that lack fixed boundaries, that are constantly in flux, and that interact and compete with one another".[2]
Culture can be defined as all the ways of life including arts, beliefs and institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation. Culture has been called "the way of life for an entire society."[ As such, it includes codes of manners, dress, language, religion, rituals, games, norms of behavior such as law and morality, and systems of belief as well as the art.

Ethnocentrism is the tendency to look at the world primarily from the perspective of one's own culture. Ethnocentrism often entails the belief that one's own race or ethnic group is the most important and/or that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups. Within this ideology, individuals will judge other groups in relation to their own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behavior, customs, and religion.
7. In a HR context what is meant by "discrimination"?
It means employment discrimination. Employment discrimination refers to discriminatory employment practices such as bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, and compensation, and various types of harassment.

Overt discrimination is open discrimination or is a clear form of prejudice. For example, some companies make it clear that they won’t employ anyone who are married or who are over thirty years old….
Covert discrimination is a kind of discrimination not openly shown and it’s hard to determine because it is very subtle. For example, if your boss invites all your colleagues to lunch except you, it is hard to know if it is because he’s known each other for a longer time, because he doesn’t like you or because they are uncomfortable with people who speak your dialect or anything.

The need for a diverse workforce is part and parcel of the human resource requirements associated with successful continuous quality improvement initiatives. A diverse workforce in which the contributions of each member—faculty, staff, or administrator, are respected and valued is an institution’s most important asset. Such a workforce is able to synthesize a variety of perspectives and processes for the successful completion of tasks. Employers can build on established individual and group strengths and develop policies that create an environment to get the best out of each individual.
