The founder of KFC,Colonel Harland Sanders, had a carefree childhood. However as he grew older,a family misfortune had forced him to take care of the entire family on his own, through which he also grew maturer.Later in his life another misfortune had happened and this time he had no choice but to leave his hometown and set out to make a living alone.

Harland Sanders' family was not very well-off.When he was 6 years old,his father passed away, leaving his mother and her three children to face life's hardship alone. His mother had to go out and work multiple jobs. She spent her day peeling potatoes at a food processing factory ,and the night mending clothes for other families, which left her with very little time to take care of her young children.Harland was the oldest and to help out his mother,he took upon his shoulders the responsibility of caring for his younger siblings.Little Harland cooked for the family. In a year or so surprisingly he had mastered 20 dishes and established himself as a reputable cook around the neighboring towns. When he was 12 years old,his mother remarried but his stepfather did not treat him well.He decided to quit school in 6th grade. No longer could he stand feeling depressed at home, finally he made up his mind to find a job elsewhere.
