1. Preparing the fold
There are two kinds of folds:
- Blue tabs or ---:score on the front and bend away from you,
- Yellow tabs or -x-:score on the back and bend towards you.
To score on the back(-x-),you can:
* make a hole with a pin at each end of the fold line,turn the piece over and score between the pinpricks,
* an alternative to scoring on the back is to crease on the front with a blunt point(an empty ball-point pen, for example)
- White tabs: do not bend.
$ Alignment marks. Prick the centre of the small circles with a pin. Turn over and join the pinpricks with a pencil line.This will help in aligning a piece to be glued on the back.
3. Folding
Fold and fit the piece without using glue to make sure it is positioned correctly. The letters and numbers printed on the pieces indicate how they attach to each other.
For forming curved pieces,
soften the paper by drawing it gently back and forth over the edge of a table. Tighter curves are then made by rolling the pieces around a cylindrical object(a pencil, for example).
