Intertextuality is one of the characteristics of talk-show,and the inter-cultural intertextuality is the (essential) factor of success in Huangxi’s (Joe Wong’s) talk-show.As invited by "the Late Show with David Letterman",the No.1 of America’s late-night show rating,Huangxi had been telling American jokes in the program in English with a heavy Chinese accent; later he was invited by the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Annual Dinner to perform for the United States politicians and media representatives,both of the performances are successful.Among the various reasons for his successful performances,the most important is that he used the intertextuality between Chinese and American cultures in creating a positive pragmatic effect.This paper analyzed the mode and function of Sino-US cultural intertextuality in talk-shows so as to find out more effective method for talk-show creation and more extensive guidance in application of the intertextuality theories.
