An enthusiastic conservationist since adolescence (青春期),Adams served from 1936 as a director of the sierra Club.Many of his photographic books,such as My Camera in the National Parks (1950),This Is the American Earth (1960),and Photographs of the Southwest (1976),are collections from the years he spent photographing the wildernesses of the United States,and are voices for their protection.
