Perforation.Because of high reservoir pressure and insufficient formation strength,the well was perforated in heavy brine with 41/2-in.tubing-conveyed perforating guns oriented high side in a 350/10° phasing to prevent sand production.Deep-penetrating low-debris steel charges (4 shots/ft) were used.The dynamic-underbalance gun concept was used,with the atmospheric pressure inside the guns creating an instantaneous underbalance at the moment of perforation,removing the crushed zone from the perforation tunnels.A flow restrictor was spaced out inside the 7-in.liner to optimize perforation tunnel cleanout by use of the pore pressure before the wellbore returned to an overbalanced state.
DIACS Completion Installation.Oil producers on Visund have been completed as 7-in.monobore completions with downhole pressure and temperature monitoring.This reservoir was more complex than expected,and recent technology enabled monitoring and controlling the production.To optimize production,DIACS well completion,which enables selective production from different reservoir zones,was considered.The reservoir sections are separated with zone-isolation packers,and the production is controlled by monitoring pressure and temperature gauges in each zone with hydraulic operation of the flow-control valves installed in the respective zones.Each zone also contains a mechanical sliding sleeve in case the hydraulic control lines should fail.The objective of this well was to establish selective production from the three different reservoir zones:Tarbert,Etive/Ness,and Rannoch.
A total of five control lines,including three braided bumper wires,was run in hole clamped to the completion string.During installation of the horizontal subsea tree,a blowout-preventer (BOP) tubing-cutting test was performed at surface to ensure the drilling BOP’s controlline cutting capability.The completion operations were performed without use of a workover system.Packer fluid was reverse circulated into the production annulus and tubing before the upper hydraulically operated flow-control valve was closed and inflow tested,then all the packers were set simultaneously.
The well was tested with an oil rate of 3900 m3/d and will be produced at a rate of 2500 m3/d with production from all zones.Initially,zones A,B,and C have productivity indices as of 4.5,91,and 635 m3/d/bar,respectively.Production from Zone A would not have been possible without a controlled production from the other zones,adding value to the DIACScompletion design.
