MSTP工作模式主要有基于二层交换的Ethernet Ring方式和内嵌RPR方式两种.前一种工作方式是目前应用最为广泛的MSTP工作模式,已在我国多条轨道交通线上也得到了应用[6].但是单纯的二层交换存在明显的不足,主要表现在节点间业务流量的公平性难以保证,无法满足在流量拥塞的情况下保持高的带宽利用率和转发量,无法满足在传输线路和网元节点故障时业务快速恢复等,因而缺乏强有力的业务保障能力.

Ethernet Ring as the most widely used MSTP mode has been applied in several UNT rail lines in China[6]. But simple two-layer exchange has obvious shortcomings which are mainly manifested in the difficulty to guarantee equity in the business flow between nodes, inability to maintain high bandwidth utilization and forwarding during congested traffic, and failure to restore service rapidly in case of problems in the transmission lines and network nodes and, hence, the lack of a powerful business guarantee capacity.
