Joseph and Ronald became good friends in Form 1 since they had one common interest in life---pets.At that time,Joseph kept one cat and three dogs at home.Ronald’s home was more like a zoo than a house because he had more than 30 pets.“We lived on a farm in Fanling,” said Ronald.“My parents loved animals very much and we had a house full of them.There were birds,rabbits,dogs and cats.”
The boys started a pet club at school when they got to Form 4.They taught club members how to choose and look after their pets.They even begged the headmaster to allow them to keep a few pets in the school.
When they left school,the boys decided to open a pet shop.They found that this was not an easy job at all.“Rents(租金)were very expensive.The problem was that we needed a large space to keep the pets.As you know,they also need to take exercise.At last we decided to house them in Ronald’s farm and open our shop in Shatin,” Joseph said.
The boys really loved their animals.They were always careful about who bought their pets.“Sometimes we find that some of our customers buy the animals just for fun.They have not thought about how they are going to look after them,” said Ronald.“We really hope that our customers will also be responsible owners”,his partner said.
